For questions about properties and types of orbitals
Atomic orbitals (AOs) are a commonly used basis to represent the electronic state of molecule or solid. There are a variety of common mathematical forms for these orbitals, most notably Gaussian and Slater orbitals. In solving SCF equations, one produces a set of Molecular orbitals (MOs). These MOs often play a role in forming a basis for Post-HF electronic structure methods.
